Zimbabwe’s Top Performing School: A Dual-Level Academic Powerhouse

Did you know that Cheziya is one of the few schools in Zimbabwe to post outstanding results at both Ordinary and Advanced Level? In the recently released examinations, Cheziya’s O-Level performance placed it firmly among the top five schools in the country—a remarkable achievement that has drawn national attention. In the Midlands Province, the school outshone perennial contenders, confirming its growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence. At A-Level, Cheziya, long recognised as the leading science school in the province, once again lived up to its name. This time, however, the school went a step further by also excelling in arts and commercial subjects, making a bold statement that Cheziya is now a truly all-round institution.
Excellence Beyond the Classroom: Sports and Enterprise
Cheziya’s success is not confined to academics. The school matched its scholarly achievements with excellence in sport. Two students, Allen Tungamira and Presence Murove, flew the Cheziya flag high on the national and international stage. Allen claimed a continental bronze medal, while Presence emerged as the national Paralympic champion, proving that the school nurtures talent beyond the classroom. Furthermore, under the leadership of the school head, Mr. Munyere, Cheziya has grown into a commercially vibrant institution. Successful projects like a piggery and poultry venture have strengthened the school’s sustainability while instilling practical skills in learners.
Award-Worthy Leadership and a National Beacon
Given these comprehensive achievements, it comes as no surprise that Cheziya richly deserves the Trailblazers Award for Academic Excellence this year. Equally deserving of recognition is the school head, Mr. Munyere, who must be nominated for the National Best Head Award. Since joining the school, Mr. Munyere has overseen a remarkable transformation, fostering a winning team spirit. With consistent top-class results, national sporting champions, and innovative development projects, Cheziya has positioned itself not just as a top school in Midlands, but as a national beacon of excellence in Zimbabwe’s education landscape.
